Everett's Best Dive Bars

A disco ball in front of a wall with a painted octopus and monthly calendar at the Anchor Pub.
Close your eyes and picture a dive bar. Imagine what it smells like (familiar domestic taps and fryer grease), what it sounds like (classic rock, smoker voices and the hum of neon). Don’t let face-value seediness scare you off, we’re talking dive bars for a reason. Cheap stiff drinks, greasy food, friendly blue-collar locals, bartenders who either love or hate you (it doesn’t matter either way) and the best people watching you’ll find, period. Here are a few of our favorites.

The Soundview

The Soundview is Everett’s quintessential dive bar. This iconic dive is home to bikers, little old ladies, hipsters, blue-collar dock workers and literally everyone in between. It really is like Cheers, where all of the locals know each other’s names, stories and drinks. You won’t find cheaper drinks in Everett, and you probably won’t find a better burger, either. So sit back, drink up, put a five in the jukebox, don’t pick a fight and enjoy Everett’s best dive bar.

The Fireplace

The Fireplace is a local favorite and one of Everett’s oldest bars. This is the place you go for a nightcap, a game of pool, neon, and pulltabs-- you know, all the classics. The Fireplace has a great beer selection and all of the spirits you’ll ever want. The local patrons are as nice as they come and they’ve seen it all. Need a cab? The bartenders are seasoned pros at making sure their patrons get home safe.

The White Buffalo Saloon

Another classic Everett dive - the place is huge and has all of the adult playground equipment one would expect from such an establishment –pool, darts, TV, pull tabs, video games, etc. The White Buffalo is known far and wide for having some of the best pizza on planet earth. True story, ask locals about Everett’s best pizza and most will point you to ‘The Buff.’

The Madison Ave Pub

The Madison is a fan-favorite among Boeing employees. They serve up tons of great beer on tap and their burgers are legendary, hand-formed, juicy, meat monsters. The Madison has live music too, that includes a pretty outstanding local blues jam and a good rotation of middle-aged white guy cover bands. And karaoke, there’s always karaoke.

The Anchor Pub

Everett’s oldest and most iconic bar can hardly be called a dive anymore. The Anchor has really cleaned up its act over the last couple of years, attracting a huge following of hipsters –    but thankfully hasn’t lost its divey luster. This popular local hangout has it all (well, mostly, no pool or darts here): delicious bar food (including a mountainous burger), stiff drinks, tons of great local beer, a gritty past and a super cool vibe. The Anchor is also at the center of a local musical renaissance in Everett, with live music every weekend and a Thursday night open mic overflowing with talent. Local tip: order a train beer when the train rolls by. - it’ll score you a schooner of PBR for a buck.
