Pacifica Chamber Orchestra performs mostly Modern music and music by women composers.
On the program: Suite for String Orchestra by Maurice Ravel, Andante for String Orchestra by Serge Prokofiev, Five Greek Dances for String Orchestra by Nikos Skalkottas, and Partita for Piano for String Orchestra Op. 20 by Vitezslava Kapralova.
Harumi Makiyama, solo piano. Fred Chu , Artistic Director
The rarely performed Partita for Piano and String Orchestra Op. 20 was completed in 1939 by the 24 year old Kapralova. She would pass away the following year. Join us for this special experience of hearing her work performed by Harumi Makiyama and PCO. We perform adventurous music!
