[ARCHIVED] Lazy Boy Brewing: line dancing, trivia, and brews breed community spirit

A group of guys with a home-brew kit lit a spark of love for brewing within Shawn Loring’s spirit. Loring and his wife, Aleisha’s, friend group at the time adoringly teased the men, calling them the “lazy boy brewers.” What began as an inside joke stuck with the couple, enduring the test of time, and popped years later when they decided to open their second brewery in Everett.

If you weren’t a part of Lazy Boy Brewing’s founding years, you might not know that the initial concept of Lazy Boy Brewing did not include a tasting area. However, thirsty beer lovers continued to knock upon their brewery’s door, so the Lorings answered by installing a tasting room and opening it up to the public.

Since opening the tasting room, Lazy Boy Brewing has become host to a community of jolly beer drinkers with a Cheers-style vibe where everyone knows your name and everyone is always welcome.

Aside from the friendly environment, Lazy Boy Brewing is all about the small-batch, craft brewing game. Though they have brewed seemingly countless different beers throughout the years, there are five that remain at the core and some favorites to take note of.

The core five: an amber ale, a Bavarian hefeweizen, IPAs - their specialty, the Norwegian death which is porter-esque, and just beer - your no-nonsense brew.

Pro-tip: if you’re looking for something especially unique, you’ll likely find what you’re looking for in their taproom, whereas the options they distribute tend to follow the trends.

At Lazy Boy Brewing, there’s more than just beer. The Lorings love bringing events into their community space. On occasion you’ll find yoga, line dancing takes over the space once a month on Fridays, Thursdays are reserved for trivia, and live music fills their space on Saturdays.

This one is a bit tucked away, located at 715 100th St. SE, Everett, WA 98208, in the far back corner of an industrial complex, but it’s worth the drive.
